Encounter
Encounter is Encounter is no longer accepting applications for the ensemble track this season, but we'll keep you informed about the next season! Student artists and leaders, ages 14 to 18 years old, are encouraged to apply for its 2009-10 Season. This after-school program trains teens and young adults as artists working in public service. Encounter is an ideal place for teens to complete their community service hours as we develop a performance piece and workshop series to share with a wide-range of diverse communities throughout the State of Maryland.
Under the Encounter umbrella is our Apprentice program, which offers individualized training for student artists and leaders considering careers in theater and/or in service.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Encounter 2010 aligns itself with national service initiatives around the country to train young adults and teens as artists working in public service. We are currently welcoming applications along two tracks: an ensemble-based performance program and an individualized apprentice program.

The ensemble-based performance program meets on Mondays after-school from October 19, 2009 until March 29, 2009. During the first half of the season, teens and young adults work together to develop a creative community, a performance piece and a workshop series based on the theme: Subject to Change. The second half of the season, we will share our work with the community. Application deadline for track one is October 2, 2009.

The individualized apprentice program offers individualized training for student artists and leaders considering careers in the theater and/or in service. This training is tailor-made to meet the needs and schedule of each student. There is no application deadline for track two. DOWNLOAD A PRINTABLE APPLICATION >
