What Is It?

As part of our Young Playwrights Festival, playwright mentors visit classrooms across Maryland, guiding students through the process of creating their own original play. Our teaching artists utilize classic playwriting methods, but also use inclusive, dynamic techniques that combine improvisation and physical activities. Residencies are scheduled earlier in the year, to allow students to submit their plays before the Young Playwrights Festival submission deadline in mid-February. When Is It?

Each residency session is typically an hour long, and a full residency is usually five sessions. These residencies are arranged in order to accommodate your school’s schedule, and therefore time of day is flexible.
