Community & Creation: Celebrating Local Black Artists

Throughout the run of How to Catch Creation, our Deering Lounge will feature art from Akea Brionne Brown, K’aree Lymon, Khadija Nia Adell, and Qrcky.

Come early to browse their works before the show and during intermission, now through May 26. To purchase a piece of art, email info@centerstage.org.

How to Catch Creation is an ode to Black creativity, telling intersecting stories of artists and their work across time and space. This same creative spirit that is onstage blossoms throughout Baltimore. We celebrate Black art on our stage, and we celebrate the creation that happens right here in our communities.

How to Catch Creation teaches us that there is no one way to be a Black artist. Each of the artists featured in the lobby—and in Christina Anderson’s play—uses a range of mediums, styles, methods, and perspectives to express their artistry.

Featuring the visual art of Akea Brionne Brown, K’aree Lymon, Khadija Nia Adell, and Qrcky with music from Baltimore-based artists, Community & Creation celebrates the expansiveness and beauty of Black art in Baltimore.
