2026/27 Student Matinee Program

A Field Trip to the Theater!

Baltimore Center Stage is proud to offer a series of Student Matinees [SMAT] for all age-appropriate shows each season! Our Student Matinee shows are open to all K-12 students throughout Maryland with grade range recommendations provided based on content warnings.

We offer free tickets to attendees from public schools on a 1st come 1st served basis with priority given to Title 1 institutions. Tickets to our SMAT performances are $15/attendee for private or alternative schools that charge tuition.

As the theater is a nonprofit institution, these ticket purchases go directly back into the BCS EDU SMAT program, supporting the attendance for students from schools with lacking arts education and resources.

Each SMAT performance this year will feature a 15-20 minute talkback where students get the opportunity to interact with artists, actors, directors, designers, and BCS staff who worked on the behind-the-scenes of the show. You can indicate your interest in attending our SMAT performances and post-show talkbacks in the application below:

Can’t stay for a talkback? No problem! The BCS Education team can also set up in-school visits and conversations with our creative team members following your attendance at an SMAT performance. For more information about planning an in-school visit with our team, please reach out to the Education Department at education@centerstage.org.
