BCS's Inaugural Spring Break Camp Was a Hit!

It was a cold and blustery start to spring in Baltimore, but that didn’t stop the campers at Baltimore Center Stage’s Spring Break Camp from blossoming before our eyes.

In a week filled with new routines, songs, movements, and monologues, the enthusiastic participants found their inner-artists and made new friends along the way. During this first year that Baltimore Center Stage has offered Spring Break Camp, the BCS staff and teaching artists focused on building the campers' confidence and nurturing budding talent. Between rotations of song, dance, and drama, there were lessons in meditation, cooperation, and kindness.

Education Director Michael Wiggins formed a great team of teaching artists, including Director/Choreographer Mari Andrea Travis, Singing Coach Joel Santiago, and Acting Coach Jacob Zabawa. At the end of just one short week, the 32 campers gave a rousing, incredible performance of musical theater to an audience of about 100 parents and supporters.

At the end, students and their family members were asked to give one word to sum up their experience. Here are some of our favorites:
