Courageous is a humanistic, urban, dramatic, one-person monologue play. In this story, a man from the streets of Baltimore talks openly about his life and reflects upon the pivotal moments that put him in his current situation as a recovering drug addict. He is honest and never holds anything back, as he talks about being arrested and being held in a jail cell at a young age. While reflecting on being in that jail cell, he talks freely about his life and being raised by a single mother and a family of proud hardworking Carolina folk who have a lot of Faith and Pride. You can tell that he loves his family dearly.
During this amazing and sometimes emotional monologue, Flubber remembers how he strayed away from the public-school system at an early age. Flubber reveals why he was attracted to the street life of robbing, stealing, and drug dealing. He talks about how he recruits a group of lifelong friends who take the journey with him as he becomes a notorious drug dealer and an infamous gangster who has a drug addiction.
After falling on hard times and hitting rock bottom, Flubber reveals that he has a life-threatening illness that will cause him to deal with life… on life’s terms. For HIM, the key to opening the gates of heaven comes from helping others overcome their own drug addiction. Flubber is transparent and brutally honest about his own life through this entire monologue. Yet he knows his ultimate demise is right around the corner.
All of these things he shares at a Narcotics Anonymous Anniversary Meeting with his family and many of his friends in attendance. As an audience member, you will feel as if you are there in that room with Flubber in 1990 at Saint Frances Church Hall, located in West Baltimore, as he tells his story in only the way that Flubber can tell it.

This is a true-to-life, day-to-day account of just that. Corey J. Johnson takes you on a riveting journey, in style.” —Amazon Review
