In 1975, the U.S. Army launched an experiment that changed history: 80 women from colleges across the country joined 50,000 men in the first ROTC class to include women. Among them was Penn State freshman Jill Morgenthaler, whose true story of resilience, courage, and grit now inspires a new musical in development. Created by Tony Award–winning playwright Joe DiPietro and award-winning composers Val Vigoda and Ryan O’Connell, Miss Foxhole 1975 traces Jill’s groundbreaking journey through boot camp at Fort Bragg and the barriers she faced as a pioneer for women in the military.
Now in its workshopping stage, the show comes to Baltimore Center Stage for a two-week creative laboratory with professional directors, musicians, and actors. Audiences are invited to witness a rare behind-the-scenes process as the team explores scenes, shapes songs, and refines the piece in real time. This 90-minute presentation offers a unique opportunity to experience a new musical at a crucial moment in its evolution and to share feedback that helps guide its future.
No sets. No costumes. Just top-tier talent and the thrill of seeing new theater come to life.
