A civil war has just ended, throwing the city into chaos and tearing families apart. Desperate to establish peace and order, the victorious leader, Creon, has issued strict new laws. But his niece, Antigone, resists these decrees for violating spiritual law and threatening her right to honor the dead. With lives, loves, and justice on the line, and two competing truths on a collision course, can the personal and the political co-exist?

What happens when the good of the many clashes with the good of a few? Who wins when the laws of men confront the laws of nature? And can one still, small voice really shake the foundations of power?

The Baltimore Center Stage Mobile Unit presents a freshly reimagined production of Sophocles’ timeless drama, directed by Daniel Bryant (Twelfth NightEndgame)—set in the not-so-distant present, past, and future, and featuring original poetry by 2016 National Poetry Slam Champion (and local Baltimorean), Lady Brion.

Due to early demand, we have added another performance in our Bernard Black Box! Join us Sunday, March 17 at 5:30pm and celebrate the run of Antigone with a special post-show champagne toast!

About the Mobile Unit

Everyone deserves access to art.

Mobile Unit breaks down the walls of conventional theater spaces by taking high-quality theater to economically, culturally, and geographically diverse communities across the Baltimore area, including organizations that serve the homeless, elderly, and incarcerated.

Last season’s production of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night was performed at 13 different community sites including the Sandtown-Winchester Senior Center, Healthcare for the Homeless, Maryland Correctional Institutions, and Boys and Girl Clubs.

In 2019, following its tour of community organizations, we are thrilled to bring this season’s Mobile Unit production home for five performances only.

We invite you to be a part of this vital project.
