BCS Sound Check is back with the stylings of Storm Thomas and the Theater but Dance Company. Join us for an evening of music from afrofuturist musicals like Ancient Future and Be Like Bone. Expect to be swept up in the rhythms and moved by the melodies that bring a whole new vibe to the form.
Storm Thomas
Storm Thomas is a black-trans drummer from Los Angeles who writes musicals: Notes on the Past (Trans Theater Fest), Ancient Future (Polyphone Festival), and Be Like Bone (in progress). Storm is a co-founder of Theater, But Dance.Teaching: Black Musical Theater (Uarts), Music for Performance (Playwrights), New Musical Theater Lab (Uarts), Theater of the Oppressed NYC. Performances: Animal Wisdom Album,The Skin of Our Teeth (TFANA), Futurity (Soho Rep/Ars Nova). New Visions Fellowship Finalist, NYSCA Grant Recipient FY2022. MFA, Sarah Lawrence College; In residence with MTF and teaching Musical Theater and Society Sarah Lawrence as well as Queer Musical Theater at NYU/Tisch Drama this fall.
